This artwork has a bizarre story. I was looking on the Internet for a significant image of The Sign of Three, the second episode of Sherlock Season 3, and I came across a photo depicting Sherlock and Watson in ceremonial clothes. At first I was looking for a picture of Mary, played by the lovely Amanda Abbington, but I liked that photo and decided to take it as reference. After I finished the drawing, I discovered that photo was actually manipulated and that, in the original version, there was Mary too. How embarrassing.

I was uncertain until the last moment whether to destroy the drawing, but in the end I opted for some corrections. Well, basically I included Mary, restoring her rightful place.

Gorgeous composition! I love the dynamic the tree in the background gives it. Amanda/Mary's facial expression seems a lot more fitting for the scene as you drew it here than it does in the original reference picture. There does seem to be some difference between the values on John's face and Mary's--with the light source, John could be casting a bit of shadow onto the left side of her face/neck. Also, Sherlock's eyebrows seem a bit...shapely. Close up you can tell they're all there, but the lightness of the ends makes it seem at first glance like they've been tweezed or something. Overall, though, this is great! The rendering of the bouquet is stunning (ALL THAT DETAIL) and you nailed their likenesses really well. I love the details of the fold and the dramatic lighting on the suit. Beautiful!
