This artwork has a bizarre story. I was looking on the Internet for a significant image of The Sign of Three, the second episode of Sherlock Season 3, and I came across a photo depicting Sherlock and Watson in ceremonial clothes. At first I was looking for a picture of Mary, played by the lovely Amanda Abbington, but I liked that photo and decided to take it as reference. After I finished the drawing, I discovered that photo was actually manipulated and that, in the original version, there was Mary too. How embarrassing.

I was uncertain until the last moment whether to destroy the drawing, but in the end I opted for some corrections. Well, basically I included Mary, restoring her rightful place.

very beautiful pic, does that tree have a meaning?
john looks not as happy  as he should look on his special day :/...wonder why....
i hope they don´t include the marriage in the series just to kill his wife off quickly...

and it is typical for the Johnlock shippers in this fandom to manipulate Mary out of the picture...  XD i´m not sure if that part of the fandom will take kindly to Johns marriage, i remember how Irene Adler got bashed just for flirting with Sherlock....

Oh, yet another masterpiece from you!

I could gush for hours about you how styled Mary's bouquet and veil. The flowers are gorgeous and so filled with detail; I feel as if I could look at them for a whole day and still not have seen every feature. The likenesses of the actors and actress are amazing. Even from the thumbnail in my message center, I immediately knew who everyone was.

Their expressions are stunning as well - Sherlock suave and confident as usual, Mary serene and self-possessed, and John looking perhaps a bit nervous about the upcoming events. And I would marry you just on account of how well you do hands.

(May I confess that I am already terrified for Mary in the show. Being that she passed away during Sherlock's hiatus in the canon... oh, I really, really, really hope Moffat and Gatiss choose to keep that out of the series. Out of all my apprehensions of what horrors will befall our fandom in the upcoming series, this is my worst.)

I know, when I heard that Mary died after Holmes had faked his death I was sad. Watson had lost Holmes, his dearest friend and Mary, his wife. Within a short period of time, Watson had lost the two people in his life that he loved the most, it's amazing he didn't fall into a deep depression.

Most Sherlock fans don't like the idea of anyone coming between their ship, Johnlock. I'm not really a slash fan so I could care less if John gets married, I just wish Sherlock didn't have to live alone, I'd rather have the three live together in the same apartment. I enjoyed Mary's character in the original story she was in (The Sign of Four) but I thought her character was boring a two-dimensional in the new Sherlock Holmes movies so I hope her character is more interesting and complex in Sherlock.

I find it hard to believe that John would be dating and falling in love shortly after Sherlock's death, I always imagined him suffering from depression. I kind of have this head-cannon that Mary somehow saves John from himself (maybe he's about to/tries to kill himself but she saves him or something.) I just want Mary to stay alive and her and John stay happily married (actually, considering it's modern day it's more likely that they'd end up getting divorced then her dying though I don't really want that either.)

I never actually thought of it from Watson's perspective; my sympathies were with Mary herself, as I very much liked her character in the stories. It's true he loses the two most important people to him in a very short period of time. What I think is amazing about Watson is that he has this quiet kind of inner strength; it's very understated, but it's powerful.

I'd like John and Mary to remain happily married throughout the course of the show as well (for once, characters without strife!). I'm very interested in the route the BBC decides on for Mary's character; being that they've adapted everyone else so cleverly, I can only imagine what they've got planned for her. I'm very excited to see her portrayed by the lovely Amanda Abbington in the show.

I also don't think John will be looking for love shortly after Sherlock's death. Supposing the hiatus lasts three years as it did in the canon, I figure John meets her sometime in the second year. He's a broken man by this point - still missing his friend - and it's my prediction that Mary feels deep compassion for him and they begin to bond over that. Though certainly the writers will come up with something much more interesting than that! And being that the writers aren't following the canon to a T, it's quite possible that John and Mary CAN remain happily married. I'd feel extremely upset if anything disrupted their relationship... such is proof of excellent writing and directing and acting! I WANT to feel sad when things are sad, and happy when they're happy, and so on.
